When did Bun B decide to try a career in music?

In the late 1980s, Pimp C formed the rap duo UGK. He initially released a demo tape titled “Underground King” that omitted Bun B from the track. Alternatively, it starred Mitchell Queen, a neighbor of Pimp C. Bun and his friend Jalon Jackson founded the P.A. Militia. The two parties merged to form 4 Black Ministers.

As a result, Bigtyme Records released an extended play titled Banned prior to the release of the album, which featured all of the songs deemed inappropriate for Too Hard to Swallow. The album “Pocket Full of Stones” was the first by UGK to receive widespread airplay in the United States. In 1994, they released their second album, Super Tight… Ridin’ Dirty, their third album, peaked at number two on the R&B charts and at number 15 on the Billboard 200 in 1996. Pimp C was sentenced to prison following the release of their fourth studio album, Dirty Money.

In January 2014, Bun B announced “The Trillest Tour.” On January 30, the Houston native announced tour dates alongside fellow Houston native Kirko Bangz. The tour began on March 6 and concluded on April 17, 2014.

Apart from music, he collaborated with author Shea Serrano on a coloring book titled “Bun B’s Rap Coloring Book” in 2013. Previously, Freeman and Serrano discussed collaborating on a novel. They initially decided on a “hip hop survival guide,” but both later backed out of the idea. Later in life, Serrano drew coloring pages of rappers and shared them on Tumblr. The pages quickly gained widespread attention. After that, Freeman and Serrano wanted to create an entire coloring book.
