– He gained a lot of popularity as a solo artist after adopting the persona of “Dr.John”. He released three more albums: Babylon (1969), Remedies (1970) and The Sun, Moon, and Herbs (1971),

– He came to wider prominence in the early 1970s with a wildly theatrical stage show. Rebennack had recorded over 20 albums and in 1973 scored a top-20 hit with the jaunty funk-flavored “Right Place Wrong Time”, still perhaps his best-known song.

– He was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame in 2007, and into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on March 14, 2011.
