Johnny Nash was born on August 19, 1940, in New York City. John Lester Nash Jr. is his birth name. In the United States, he was born in Houston, Texas. He was a resident of the United States. John Lester Nash was his father, and Eliza Armstrong was his mother. He belonged to the African-American ethnic group.

He sang in the choir of the Progressive New Hope Baptist Church in South Central Houston when he was a child.

He began performing R&B cover songs on a local variety program, Matinee on KPRC-TV, when he was just 13 years old.

From 1956, he began singing on Arthur Godfrey’s radio and television shows.

ABC-Paramount signed him to a recording contract.

With the song “A Teenager Sings the Blues,” he made his major-label debut in 1957.

Cayman Music, a new music publishing company in Jamaica, was founded by them.
