Josh Duggar could face 20 years in prison and a fine for possession of child pornography!
There is some trouble in the Duggar family of 19 Kids and Counting show fame. One of their sons, Josh Duggar is in deep waters. He was arrested for alleged child porn possession. And a federal jury has found him guilty of one count of receiving and possession of child pornography. What will be his sentence like?
Josh Duggar and his legal tangles
On 9 December 2021, the police arrested former reality TV star, Josh Duggar, 33 after a federal jury convicted him of receiving and possessing child porn photos. This jury is in Fayetteville which is around 140 miles to the northwest of Little Rock. The US District Judge Timothy Brooks stated that Josh’s sentence would be announced in four months’ time.
Josh and his family had the show 19 Kids and Counting on TLC. But in 2015, there were revelations that he had molested four of his sisters and also a babysitter. It was as early as 2006 when a family friend informed the legal authorities about it and they started their investigation into it. But they closed the case after that. His parents had at that time said that he did admit that he had fondled his sisters and the babysitter and also gave a public apology on it.
Josh had also confessed that he is a pornography addict and had also cheated on his wife. He called himself the biggest hypocrite ever.
The federal jury report
The Judge had said that the jurors on this current child porn case can hear the testimonies of 2003 when Josh had confessed to his crime. A family friend had also testified at that time and said that he had come to know about this child abuse from Josh. The new child porn case against Josh came up when the federal authorities found that the child porn files were being shared. When they traced the computer, it was found to belong to Josh. The files were downloaded in 2019 by a computer at a car dealer shop owned by Josh.
Josh’s lawyer said that though it was Josh’s computer, it was someone else on it that downloaded the said files. But the jury was not convinced with this argument.
Anna Duggar is sad
After the federal jury decision, Josh’s wife, Anna Duggar was seemingly looking forlorn as she left the court premises. She had kept her head down and her hands were folded. She has been on the side of her husband supporting him and holding his hands as the trial went on. Additionally, Anna delivered the couple’s 7th child, daughter Madyson Lily on 23 October 2021. Their other children are Mackynzie, 12, Michael, 10, Marcus, 8, Meredith, 6, Mason, 4, and Maryella, 2.
Josh’s sentence could be as high as 20 years in prison and $250000 in fine. The family boasts about children and is against abortion. They have quantity but somewhere due to it, the quality did get affected.
