He then made his promotional debut on July 16, 2020, at UFC on ESPN 13, in a middleweight bout against John Phillips, replacing Dusko Todorovic, where he won by submission in the second round, winning him the Performance of the Night trophy.

On September 6, 2020, it was revealed that he would have yet another fast turnaround, as he was scheduled to fight Gerald Meerschaert on September 19, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 178, where he won by knockout just 17 seconds into round one, winning him his third straight Performance of the Night award.
