In April 2018, Giuliani, Parnas, and Fruman reportedly agreed to help President Trump’s re-election campaign, and they named Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch as a potential stumbling block.

On the 24th of January 2020, in the midst of Trump’s impeachment hearing, ABC News broke the report that led to this conclusion after reviewing a tape.

Giuliani reportedly sent the two to Ukraine in late 2018 to look for compromising information on Trump’s political critics in the United States. On January 20, 2020, his lawyer filed a petition requesting the appointment of a special prosecutor outside the Justice Department and the recusal of US Attorney General William Barr.
