Meghan Markle: her engagement ring reveals her complicated but unique nature!

Can a person’s nature be known from the engagement ring she gets designed? Jewelry expert Nilesh Rakholia, the Director at ABELINI Jewellery, London feels that it does. Hence he gives his opinion on the engagement ring of Meghan Markle, former Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle and her engagement ring

The engagement ring of Meghan Markle that Prince Harry gifted her in 2017 is a unique piece. It is iconic and also popular. Later, the two wed after one year of their engagement at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. Prince Harry had designed the ring himself. And had gifted it to Meghan when he proposed to her during one of their trips to Botswana. It has a central 3-carat diamond and this is flanked by smaller diamonds of 1.5 carat each. Thus the ring is of 6 carats.

At that time, Harry spoke to BBC:

“The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s Meghan’s favourite. “

He added:

“The main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds on either side are from my mother’s jewellery collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together.”

The opinion of a jewelry expert on Meghan’s engagement ring

Nilesh Rakholia, the Director at ABELINI Jewellery spoke to Express UK about Meghan’s unique ring. He said:

“This royal engagement ring is steeped in significance for the couple, with every element deliberately chosen.

“A three-carat cushion cut diamond takes centre stage on the Duchess of Sussex’s engagement ring, surrounded by two other diamonds set on a yellow gold band.

“The centre diamond was sourced from Botswana, a place very close to the couple’s heart.”

He continued:

“The two other diamonds came from Princess Diana’s collection – another touching tribute to Princess Diana from her youngest son.”

“Representing a rich history, it is only fitting that the wearer of a cushion-cut diamond isn’t afraid to look back to the past when moving forward.”

“The cut of this diamond also creates a kaleidoscopic look when hit with light, representing the unique and complicated nature of the person who wears it.”

The change in Meghan’s engagement ring

In 2019, when Meghan attended the summer royal event called Queen’s Trooping of the Colour, paparazzi noticed that the engagement ring of Meghan has changed a bit. The three diamond pieces remained the same. But instead of yellow hold, the band was now a diamond eternity band. The royal couple did not issue any statement on this matter.

But some said that Meghan changed the band of the engagement ring so that it matches that of the band that Harry presented to her after the birth of their son, Archie. Harry with jeweller Lorraine Schwartz had designed the second band too. It represents their growing family in firm of Meghan, Harry, Archie and later Lilibet.
