The first meeting of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban first met at the G’Day USA Gala in 2005. This event in Los Angeles was to honor Australians who made it big in the USA. While Nicole was immediately attracted to Keith, the musician took four months to call her up. Recalling the time, Nicole in 2017 told Ellen DeGeneres:
“I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me,”
“It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months.”
In 2018, Keith was on an Australian talk show and he clarified his side of the tale:
“Somebody had given me her number and I had it in my pocket for a while. I kept looking at it thinking, ‘If I call this number, she’s going to answer. I don’t know what [to] say,’”
“And I wasn’t in a very healthy place in my life.”
“I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me. But, at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless.”
The wedding of the couple
The two began dating and in June 2006 walked down the aisle together. It was a love-filled ceremony that took place in Manly in Australia. Soon after, in October 2006, on the insistence of Nicole, Keith took rehab treatment. He said:
“I caused the implosion of my fresh marriage,”
“It survived, but it’s a miracle it did. I was spiritually awoken with her. I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel. And for the first time in my life, I could shake off the shackles of addiction.”
The children of the couple
Nicole delivered their first baby in July 2008. It was a cute daughter whom they named Sunday Rose. For their second child, the couple went for surrogacy. Their second child, daughter Faith Margaret was born in December 2011.
Nicole, 54 has two more children. She and her former husband, Tom Cruise had adopted them. They are daughter Isabella and son Conner. The actress believes that their marriage worked because they take time for each other:
“Obviously I work hard, but when I’m off, I’m off. Keith and I are very good at immediately clicking off because we have a really good life in Nashville that’s very simple, quiet and nourishing because we’ve made it like that.”
