Roger Stone pleads not guilty on seven counts he was charged with

Roger Stone, who was arrested on 25 January 2019 pleaded not guilty the seven counts he is facing. He was arrested in a guns-drawn, pre-drawn raid with 29 agents in combat gear in 17 vehicles in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He was charged with seven counts through an indictment in the Mueller investigation: one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering.

Prosecutors alleged that after the first WikiLeaks release of hacked DNC emails in July 2016, a senior Trump campaign official was directed to contact Stone about any additional releases and other damaging information WikiLeaks had regarding the Clinton campaign. The indictment alleged that stone thereafter told the Trump campaign about potential future released of damaging material by WikiLeaks.

He was released on a $250,000 signature bond on the same day and declared that he was not a flight risk. He said he would fight the charges and refuse to “bear false witness” against Trump.

Roger Stone was born on 27 August 1952. His birth name is Roger Jason Stone Jr. He was born to a father, Roger J. Stone, and a mother, Gloria Rose Stone. He is of Hungarian and Italian descent. His birthplace is in Norwalk, Connecticut, in the United States. He holds American nationality. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He grew up in Lewisboro, New York in a middle-class family.

He attended high school in northern Westchester County, where he was a junior and vice president of the student government. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the George Washington University. However, he dropped out of college without graduating.

In 1972, he began his political career conducting several activities on the Nixon campaign.

Nixon resigned, and Stone worked for Bob Dole. But, he was fired after columnist Jack Anderson publicly identified Stone as a Nixon ‘dirty trickster’.

In 1975, he helped found the National Conservative Political Action Committee. The organization helped to pioneer independent expenditure political advertising.

In 1976, he worked for Ronald Reagan’s presidential campaign.

He became the president of the Young Republicans in 1977.

The1980s

He served as chief strategist for Thomas Kean’s campaign for governor of New Jersey in 1981, as well has Kean’s re-election campaign in 1985.

He coordinated the Northeast in Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign.

Stone and Paul Manafort partnered with Charlie Black established a political consulting and lobbying firm, Black, Manafort & Stone (BMS),  becoming one of Washington D.C.’s first mega-lobbying firms.

He served as senior adviser to Jack Kemp’ presidential campaign in 1987.

Time alleged Stone in April 1992 that he was involved with the controversial Willie Horton advertisements to aid George H.W. Bush’s 1988 presidential campaign. Stone denied the accusation.

The 1990s

He was the president of Republican Senator Arien Specter’s Republican presidential campaign in 1995. With less than 2% support, Specter withdrew from the campaign.

Stone founded Citizens United Not Timid in January 2008. It was an anti-Hillary Clinton 527 group with an intentionally obscene acronym.

The 2010s

Kristin Davis, a woman linked with the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal, run for the Libertarian Party nomination for governor of New York in 2010. Stone was her campaign manager.

He was also supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino at the time. He admitted providing support and advice to both campaigns.

He was an unpaid advisor to comedian Steve Berke for his 2011 campaign for mayor of Miami Beach, Florida.

He changed his party affiliation from the Republican Party to the Libertarian Party in 2012.

He considered running as a Libertarian candidate for governor of Florida in 2014. He later announced in a statement that he would not run.

He was an advisor to the Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. Stone left the campaign on 8 August 2015 following the controversy. Stone claimed he quit, whereas Trump claimed he fired Stone. He remained an informal advisor to and media surrogate for Trump throughout the campaign.

He was banned from appearing on CNN and MSNBC during the course of the 2016 presidential campaign. He was banned for making a series of offensive Twitter posts disparaging television personalities.

He referred to a CNN commentator as an “entitled diva bitch” and imagined her “killing herself”, and called another CNN personality a “stupid negro” and a “fat negro”.

Twitter later suspended Stone’s Twitter account.

Stone referred to Ted Cruz, Trumps Republican primary rival as a liar after Cruz criticized Stones of being Tump’s henchman and dirty trickster for over 50 years.

Stone defended Trump’s criticism of Khizr Khan, a Pakistani American whose son received a posthumous Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004.

He was the subject of a Netflix documentary film, Get Me Roger Stone in 2017. The documentary focuses on his past and on his role in the 2016 presidential campaign.

He promoted conspiracy theories during 2016 presidential claiming that Clinton aide Huma Abedin was connected to the Muslim Brotherhood.

He accused John Podesta, campaign chairman of Hillary Clinton of having prior knowledge of publishing by WikiLeaks of Podesta’s private emails obtained by a hacker.
