Roger Stone, who was arrested on 25 January 2019 pleaded not guilty the seven counts he is facing. He was arrested in a guns-drawn, pre-drawn raid with 29 agents in combat gear in 17 vehicles in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
He was charged with seven counts through an indictment in the Mueller investigation: one count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering.
Prosecutors alleged that after the first WikiLeaks release of hacked DNC emails in July 2016, a senior Trump campaign official was directed to contact Stone about any additional releases and other damaging information WikiLeaks had regarding the Clinton campaign. The indictment alleged that stone thereafter told the Trump campaign about potential future released of damaging material by WikiLeaks.
He was released on a $250,000 signature bond on the same day and declared that he was not a flight risk. He said he would fight the charges and refuse to “bear false witness” against Trump.
