Teairra Mari: her case of revenge porn against 50 Cent backfires and she has to pay him $ 50k now!
Love and Hip Hop actress, Teairra Mari has landed in trouble after suing 50 Cent. She thought that she would win a lawsuit against the music producer. And now instead she has to pay 50 Cent money for the false case and for the fees of his attorney.
The case of Teairra Mari against 50 Cent
Reality TV star, Teairra Mari had some naked photos of herself. It got leaked on the internet. And 50 Cent picked up those photos and reposted them on his social media. This did not go well with the reality TV star. She sued the music producer for revenge porn.
Teairra also made a case against her ex-boyfriend, Akbar Abdul-Ahad for the leak of the photos online. As regards 50 Cent, the actress added that he had modified the photos prior to the reposting. She said that 50 Cent had used a black and white filter in order to enhance the color contrast of the semen.
50 Cent’s response and the Judge’s verdict
50 Cent responded to the case. He said that he did not use any black and white filter prior to the repost. He went on to add that even if he did use the filter, he did not change the nature of the photo. It had remained the same. 50 Cent also added that the photo was already online. He was not the one who leaked the photos. Everyone had already seen the images and he had just reposted them. Hence it was no case against him.50 Cent also repeated what the Judge had said on an earlier occasion. The judge had said that the said photos do not come under the category of revenge porn. The photos did not reveal any external genitals of anyone and nor did they show an sexual act in the progress.
The Judge passed a verdict that the case is false. He dismissed the case and asked Teairra to pay USD 30k to 50 Cent as compensation for his attorney fees.
Teairra defaults on compensatory payment
The reality TV star Teairra now owes 50 Cent USD 50k. But she has not yet repaid him the money. She is delaying the payment. The music producer had tried his level best to get his due money from Teairra but in vain. Hence he again knocked the doors of the court for it. 50 Cent added that Teairra was providing him details about her finances.
50 Cent had tried to get money from her employers, VH1. But he was unsuccessful. He was also trying to find out how much she earns through Instagram endorsements and her music work. His lawyer said in his documents and the Court:
“Teairra has been the subject of repeated sanctions by this Court but has been seemingly unswayed by such actions and has not paid any money towards the Judgment or sanctions against her, making the increased penalties associated with a finding of contempt necessary.”
The lawyer wants the court to penalize her for contempt of court and to order her to come to California for the money settlement. But Teairra has pleaded to the Los Angeles Superior Court that she resides in Georgia and is unable to make a trip to California for the case. She added:
“I am willing to engage in efforts to satisfy the debts at issue and will participate in the discovery process moving forward.”
