Jeff Bezos was born on 12 January 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, into Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen.

When he was four, after Mike Bezos’ second marriage to his mother, Jeff started taking the name of his stepfather as he and his dad had no interaction with each other again.

Later his family moved to Houston, Texas, to work at Exxon Oils Corporation for his step-father.

Bezos studied primary school River Oaks in Houston and then high school in Miami Palmetto, following his family’s relocation to Florida, on a national merit scholarship.

He had the idea to leave his job before 1993 and start a bookstore online. He told his parents about it, primarily because his work at that time was very safe and they were suspicious. In 1994, Jeff Bezos took the enormous step of leaving his own company, named Amazon, and set it apart.

Amazon, which began as a library, then became a general online shopping store. The business was by 2013 the world’s largest online shopping distributor since purchasing all rival companies and launching subsidiaries such as Amazon Web Services and Amazon Kindle.

Jeff Bezos, who was described by the New York Times as a «brilliant yet enigmatic and cold-blooded business titan», has other major interests such as the human aircraft company, Blue Roots, The Washington Post, and Bezo Expeditions, a private equity firm.

In 1999 and by 2018 he was named a person of the year by Time magazine, and it was listed by the most famous people in the world. He was a millionaire in 1997 and became a billionaire in just 2 years, having posted a net value of $10.1 billion in 1999. He started to climb up meteorically and saw him becoming the richest person in the world.
