US representative, Madison Cawthorn and his wife, Cristina are set to divorce amicably. Madison issued a statement to this effect citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce.

North Carolina Republican, Madison Cawthorn and his wife are set to divorce on amicable terms. They mutually decided to go for legal separation after irreconcilable differences emerged between them in their married life. Madison, 26 issued a statement on this matter. The statement came from his spokesperson and read:

“Together, we realized that balance was not attainable, and that we had irreconcilable differences between us,”

The relationship of the couple

Madison and Cristina began dating and got engaged before he joined the Congress in November 2020. On 3 April 2021 they exchanged wedding vows. And on 4 April 2021, he had tweeted about his wedding:

“On April 3rd of 2014 my life changed. A car accident put me in a wheelchair and dashed my hopes for the future. On April 3rd of 2021 my life has once again changed. Marrying Cristina Bayardelle, now Cristina Cawthorn is the greatest honor, privilege and adventure of my life.”

This tweet had 15700 likes and 837 retweets. The marriage lasted only for eight and half months. And now comes the divorce. They have no children together. The couple’s life changed after he took his office as a representative. They tried to work out their marriage but were unsuccessful. He stated that the transition in his life was too enormous and their relationship could not handle it.

Madison and his career

The USA representative Madison is just 26. He is the youngest member of Congress. He is a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and also an ally of former American President Donald Trump. During and after the election, he floated fake claims that the election was riddled with frauds. In August 2021, he had gone to the extent of warning that there would be bloodshed. He had said:

“The things that we are wanting to fight for, it doesn’t matter if our votes don’t count. Because, you know, if our election systems continue to be rigged, and continue to be stolen, then it’s going to lead to one place, and it’s bloodshed.”

His spokesperson had clarified that he did not mean to propagate violence by these statements.
