  • Laurie Hernandez began her career at an early age of 12, as a gymnast at the U.S. Classic, where she was placed 11th in the junior division. Shortly after her Classic, she qualified to the National Championships in St. Louis, gaining the spot of 21 within 2 days of competition.
  • In 2013, she placed second in the all-around at the WOGA Classic, also, first on floor exercise, second in the all-around behind Ariana Agrapides, and third on balance beam and vault at the American Classic.
  • Hernandez even won the junior all-around at the 2013 Elite National Qualifier.
  • Hernandez got her first national space after she was added to the U.S. junior national team in July 2013. At the National Championships in August, she won the silver medal in the junior all-around competition.

  • Hernandez made her senior debut in 2016, earning a bronze medal in the all-around, a silver medal on vault, and a gold medal on the balance beam at the City of Jesolo Trophy.
  • On August 3, 2016, Hernandez became a professional athlete leading-up to the 2016 Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro. She was selected in the United States team, known as the “Final Five” which even won a gold medal in the team competition.
  • She also won a silver medal on the balance beam at the event finals on Agust 15, 2016.
