Her mother, Olga is Russian and an Orthodox Christian who later converted to Islam after marrying Irina’s father, Valery who is Muslim. He is half-Russian and half-Volga Tatar. Valery worked as a coal miner while her mother is a kindergarten music teacher. She has an older sister called Tatiana Petenkova.

She started studying music in her childhood. When she was 14, her father died of pneumonia. After studying marketing, Irina took admission into a beauty school. She was spotted b a talent agent and won Miss Chelyabinsk 2004 award. Later, she switched to modeling and had a successful career in it.
