Carol Jean Vorderman, popularly known as Carol Vorderman is a British media personality. She is best known for co-hosting the popular game show, Countdown. She has co-hosted Countdown for 26 years from 1982 to 2008. She is also known for hosting the Pride of Britain awards honoring British people who have acted bravely or extraordinarily in challenging situations. Early Life of Carol Vorderman

Carol Vorderman was born on 24 December 1960. Her birth name is Carol Jean Vorderman. She was born to a father, Anton “Tony” Vorderman, and a mother, Edwina Jean. She is of Dutch and Welsh descent. Her birthplace is in Bedford, England. She holds English nationality. She is Catholic. She has 2 older siblings, Anton and Trixie. Her parents separated just three weeks after her birth. Her mother then took them to her home town of Prestatyn, North Wales. She grew up there. Her mother married Italian immigrant Armido Rizzi in 1970 and separated 10 years later.

She attended the comprehensive Blessed Edward Jones Catholic High School in Rhyl. She went to Cambridge, where she studied engineering at Sidney Sussex College. She was one of the youngest women admitted to Cambridge at the time. She was only 17 then.
