Kelly and her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock separated and the singer shared her thoughts on her Christmas without him. She was talking during her NBC holiday special named Kelly Presents: When Christmas Comes Around on 1 December 2021.

Singer Kelly Clarkson was on the NBC show: Kelly Presents: When Christmas comes around. She spoke candidly about the range of emotions she has during this Christmas after her divorce from her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. Kelly revealed that she is all alone and lost at Christmastime. She said:

“The holidays come with a whole range of emotions.”

“I’m gonna be real with ‘all-when I wrote this next song, I was crying my face off, which happens even at Christmastime, everyone. I had just put my kids to bed and I was just going through it, having a really hard time, and it’s been a really tough year for a lot of us.”

She performed ‘Merry Christmas (To the One I used to Know)”. She revealed that she created the song for herself. Kelly Clarkson feels that there are not many holiday songs for lonely and lost people or for sad people. She remembers only Dolly Parton‘s ‘Hard Candy Christmas’ song for such people. This song everyone likes and loves, she said. She added:

“It’s about getting through a tough holiday. I absolutely love that song and it allowed me to write this.”

Kelly’s song When Christmas comes around released in October 2021. After performing to that song, she also gave a splendid performance of ‘Christmas Isn’t Canceled (Just You). This song she wrote for her album that is about her split from Brandon. Explaining on it, Kelly said:

“I wrote it because a lot of things were taken from us over the last couple of years: people, relationship, jobs, etc.”

She continued:

“There were so many things taken, but instead of looking at everything that’s gone wrong, we should be looking at all the things that have gone right.”

“And that’s what my therapist tells me anyway so that’s who I’m singing to! But no matter what people try to take from you, nobody can cancel Christmas, y’all.”

The couple, Kelly and Brandon dated and later married in 2013. They have two children together. They are River Rose who is 7 now and Remington Alexander who is 5 now. But the pair had marital discord. In June 2020, Kelly went ahead and put in her legal papers for divorce in the Court. But the divorce turned messy over financial issues. Later, this September she became legally single. The Court would grant them the divorce in January 2022.
